About the store
Brittany: Hey teacher besties! I have been teaching for 5 years in a Title 1 school. I teach 4th grade English Language Arts and Alabama History. I also helped pioneer the virtual learning experience in my grade level and within my school district for our students. My passion includes creating and fostering an engaging and safe classroom culture for students of ALL backgrounds and ALL abilities. Within my general ed setting, I service students on the spectrum, ML students, Gifted students, students with unique learning disabilities, neurotypical students and students from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as children with backgrounds of trauma. I believe that education is not one size fits all and every student deserves a personalized learning experience to encourage and foster their love of learning, mastery of standards, and personal/social goals and aspirations. I am passionate about creating cozy, engaging, fun, and beautiful spaces for my learners to enjoy being in. I enjoy making teachers' lives easier by promoting a spirit of collaboration and team work whether that be my amazing work family or teacher besties around the world. To be quite honest and to put it simply, I just love teaching and believe it was a calling placed on my life (Jeremiah 29:11) and it is my hope I can be a light to my students and anyone that I come in contact with every single day. I also like to laugh. If that's your thing, welcome and I hope you stick around! Kaelyn: Hello! I have been teaching for 6 years. Prior to having my own classroom, I was a substitute teacher while I finished my degree. I started my career in 2nd grade. I taught 2nd grade for two years, and then, an amazing opportunity was presented to me. My principal asked another teacher and myself to pilot a Personalized Learning program at our school inspired by Marzano Research. In this multi-grade level classroom, I started the year teaching both 2nd and 1st grade within the same room. The next year, I taught 2nd and 3rd grade in the same classroom. I have been teaching 2nd and 3rd grade Personalized Learning since that year. Personalized Learning has changed my teaching philosophy and my life.

Teaching style

Brittany: I teach because I believe in butterflies. Perhaps the butterfly is proof that you can go through a great deal of darkness, yet become something beautiful. It is in the struggle and hard circumstances that we find our strength. If you believe in yourself, work hard and push against your cocoon with the tools you gain through education, you can transform into a beautiful butterfly. "Somewhere inside all of us is the power to change the world" - Matilda Kaelyn: “Perhaps this is the moment for which you have been created.” 4:14 This statement has played over and over in my mind over the last 4 years of my career. I feel so strongly that I am fulfilling my purpose as a Personalized Learning Teacher. We have pushed past the impossible and created the most promising learning atmosphere. I am so proud of the work we have done as a team. I am forever thankful for this opportunity as a teacher. I have watched struggling students grow more than they ever thought possible. I’ve watched them become filled with pride and excitement. I’ve watched students who have always been in the “middle of the mountain” grow to the top of the mountain. I’ve watched high achievers rise to the occasion and achieve new heights and meet new goals. Personalized Learning has afforded us the unique privilege to personalize schedules, pacing, tasks, projects, and many other learning opportunities to meet the needs of each unique child. For all of these reasons, I have seen how much we can achieve when we provide a Personalized Learning opportunity. It is my honor and wish to continue to see our students truly lead their own learning.

Additional biographical information

Hello and WELCOME to PERSONALIZED IN PRIMARY where two teacher besties take on their teaching and learning adventure. We decided to marry both of our unique skill sets to create quality content for teachers in real life classrooms across the country and world! Brittany teaches in a general ed setting, while Kaelyn teaches in a personalized learning setting. What is Personalized Learning? -There is little to no whole group instruction, unless it is applicable to the whole class. -The students work on their personalized pathway (stations, projects etc.) while the teacher focuses on intensive small group instruction. -Students receive more instruction based on needs and receive enrichment in their areas of strength, as well as interests. -Self-efficacy is promoted. With that in mind, it's our vision and mission that ALL students, regardless of setting or ability deserve a PERSONALIZED education, tailored to their unique needs and interests! Are you ready to get PERSONAL!? Let's do this!
