About the store
I taught 7th and 8th grade math for 6 years before I became an Instructional Coach. My first assignment was teaching 7th grade math intervention classes where I had to create many of the activities and assignments that we did based on the needs of the classroom teacher. I then taught 8th grade math where again I found myself creating many of my assignments to tailor them to my student needs.

Experience

I taught 7th and 8th grade math for 6 years before I became an Instructional Coach. My first assignment was teaching 7th grade math intervention classes where I had to create many of the activities and assignments that we did based on the needs of the classroom teacher. I then taught 8th grade math where again I found myself creating many of my assignments to tailor them to my student needs.

Teaching style

I emphasize the importance of establishing clear mathematical goals, ensuring that every lesson is purposeful and directed towards building conceptual understanding. I engage students in rich mathematical tasks that encourage problem-solving and reasoning, while also providing opportunities for productive struggle. Through the use of meaningful questions and ongoing formative assessments, I guide students to articulate their thinking, make connections between concepts, and build their mathematical proficiency. I also create a collaborative learning environment where students feel supported in exploring different approaches and sharing their ideas, thereby cultivating a classroom culture where everyone contributes to the collective mathematical growth.

My own education history

I hold a bachelors degree from West Texas A&M in Marketing and a Masters Degree in Education Leadership from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
