This is a great activity to determine if your students can identify (match) rational numbers when formated in a variety of ways: on a number line; as a fraction, decimal, or percent; and even in a model.

Dioramas are no longer a thing of the past. These work great as the final product when students are completing a research project. It can be used for all subject areas, especially for biographies, historical events, science topics, etc. The diorama has room for a header, image, and enough text for a paragraph. Great classroom management technique. The best part? It's simple for the teacher to manage. It's as easy as placing the note on the students desk - prompting them to refocus on the activity at-hand.

This activity is always a hit with my students. When we are working on stations during our decimal unit, I use this activity on the Promethean or SMART board. There are over a dozen problems reviewing decimal operations and decimal word problems. How does it work? When the students identify their answer to the problem - and if it is correct - the balloon POPS! Sound and all. (Incorrect answers stay on the screen, no popping, no sound; so that they can make another answer selection.)

This activity is great to use during the first few days of school. Students can work on one or more poems independently while you need to take attendance, gather student data, etc. The are three poem topics: school, recess, and teacher.

These classroom jobs (labels) can be reprinted, cut, and re-laminated whenever needed. The cards can be used in pockets or magnets can be placed on the board; they are very versatile and can be used however you like.

This is a good review activity once you have taught arithmetic, geometric and other types of special sequences. The first problem will show the students where to begin while each subsequent problem will direct them to the next square in the maze, ultimately leading them to the finish line (last box). There are 9 problems for them to solve in order to complete the activity.

Introducing genres to your students? This is a great way to start off the unit. Approximately 12 different genres are reviewed with a description and examples.

Students love to talk (and write) about themselves! So why not have them write a poem about themselves? Autobiographical poems are a great introduction to the poetry genre. This handout includes directions, ideas, and a template the teacher can use.
