Kerry Cue is a humorist, mathematician, journalist and author. She studied Science/Engineering at Melbourne University, taught math for 10 diabolical years then turned her hand to writing for newspapers, TV and radio. After studying math at university for 5 years, then teaching for 10 years, I made a big discovery. I never wanted to know the answer to any problem. I simply wanted to get the answer right and move on. I taught in some tough high schools. On my first day at one school a student threw a bike off a roof. Now I understand their rage. Only a small % of students love math for the challenge. It's like Latin, a dead language, to the rest. So I started my math blog MATHSPIG to show teachers and principals that math could be REAL, RELEVANT and FUN. I concentrate on the TOUGH YEARS: Middle School. Math teachers don't have time to be creative. So I'm producing the WORKSHEETS that I would have wanted for my challenging classes.
