Hot Heels 1 ANGLES
The Angle of Death
This exercise takes Grade 7 and Grade 8 geometry into their world. Students complete some warm-up exercises involving supplementary and complementary angles and right angle triangles and then they use this math to measure angles of high heel shoes in photographs.
Students use this information to calculate THE ANGLE OF DEATH. And there is a motivating fun exercise to end the lesson.

Teaching style
After studying math at university for 5 years, then teaching for 10 years, I made a big discovery. I never wanted to know the answer to any problem. I simply wanted to get the answer right and move on.
I taught in some tough high schools. On my first day at one school a student threw a bike off a roof. Now I understand their rage. Only a small % of students love math for the challenge. It's like Latin, a dead language, to the rest. So I started my math blog MATHSPIG to show teachers and principals that math could be REAL, RELEVANT and FUN.
I concentrate on the TOUGH YEARS: Middle School.
Math teachers don't have time to be creative. So I'm producing the WORKSHEETS that I would have wanted for my challenging classes. So here are the worksheets that motivate students, even difficult students, to DO THE MATH.
