Experience

Teaching style

I have been using a variety of assistive technology in my instruction, including low and high tech. Because I teach students with significant special needs, I tend to use direct instruction with many visual aids. Pictures are very important in my classroom. I also use many work tasks to teach them independence.

Additional biographical information

I am a proud parent of an adult son with autism. Since I have been the parent who has gone through the process of early childhood special education, through the K-12 education system, and the post-graduate transition process, I try very hard to place myself in the parent/caregiver shoes and remember what it was like for us to be on "that side of the table."
