Pretty Fly for a Science Guy

This activity is designed to get your students up out of their chairs and talking to classmates! Like similar activities, students will walk around and talk to their classmates to see who fits each box. However, this scavenger hunt is SCIENCE themed! No prior knowledge necessary ("who has used fireworks before?" "who plays an instrument?") This activity is also a great way to start the conversation about how science is in our lives every day! A fun, new idea to break the ice and get to know your students, while also creating a cool bulletin board as well! These interlocking hexagon shapes are designed to fit together, and will end up creating a honeycomb design. Perfect for a bee-themed or geometry bulletin board, but would fit in any classroom! Instead of lecturing your students about yourself, why not have them do the hard work? have students "Investigate" your classroom to learn about you, while at the same time teaching observations and inferences from evidence. 5E Lesson - Student Activity Sheet Follows NGSS: MS-ESS1-1.
