About the store
I began my teaching career in the non-profit sector, running non-profit camps, overnights, and other education programs at a non-profit zoo for 5 years. Since making the transition to the classroom, I have taught 3 years in 6th grade (multi-subject, elementary setting), 2 years in 5th, 1 year in 4th, and a half-time year in 3rd, in addition to a year and a half of substitute teaching. I have taught in public and charter schools in rural, suburban, and urban communities in California and Oregon. I am currently taking a break from teaching while accompanying my husband on a temporary overseas assignment.

Experience
I began my teaching career in the non-profit sector, running non-profit camps, overnights, and other education programs at a non-profit zoo for 5 years. Teaching style
One of my highest priorities as an educator is to instill a growth mindset in my students. In my classroom, I want all students to know that they are capable of learning and improving, no matter where they are beginning and what their past experience has been. I believe that kids love school when they feel successful, so I focus on high-impact strategies over games and cute activities.
My own education history
I'm a proud graduate of the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics. I have a bachelor's of education in Elementary Education with a concentration in math and science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I also have a masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Portland State University.
