I made this 2 page assessment for my team to assess our second grade students' math knowledge. The entire test is shown in the thumbnails. Some of the skills assessed include:
* 2 and 3-digit addition and subtraction with regrouping

This is a visual I made to help my students practice their fact families. In the past I have copied the blank houses and have hand-written the numbers in depending on my students' readiness level. For this sale, I have included 5 practice pages with the numbers placed in the houses (fact families up to 19). The last page is a page of blank houses for you to write in your own.

I wrote these story problems for my 1st graders originally, and have modified them a little to be used with my current 2nd graders.
This download contains 3 sets of differentiated story problems (A,B,C). There are 8 problems on each page. Students will add silverware, figure out football scores, cut pies, and more!
Sets A and B have similar problems (with B having larger digits or a 3rd addend). Set C is the most difficult with repeated addition and problems with double digits.
The story
This is a quick math center activity that consists of 8 basic addition fact "mitten cards" and matching answer "hat cards.

I received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science teaching for New York State in 2006. I was able to travel to Washington, D.C. to accept this award and meet President George W. Bush!
My own education history
I graduated with my degree in Elementary Education from SUNY Geneseo in 1992. I received my certification in Special Education in 1994, and my Master's degree in Elementary Education in 2001.
