Teaching style

My teaching style revolves around inquiry-based learning where the lesson begins with a question then students often do hands-on activities to practice skills. The hands-on activities keep students excited and engaged from beginning to end. This might be a buddy reading, a worksheet, experiment, exploration of materials, research, or follow procedures. Teaching requires critical planning, flexibility, and strong classroom management. I feel inquiry-based learning allows students to guide learning to fit their interests and builds strong, social, open-minded future citizens.

Additional biographical information

I have been working in the school systems for 20 years. At the age of 45 I went back college and earned my Elementary Education And Early Childhood degree. Since then I have worked in a low SES area. My classroom every year has 7 to 11 high needs children. I run my classroom with lists of visual, routine, and expectations. Conscious Discipline is my way of life and I teach my children to self regulate. I am ready to share my experiences, talents and organizational skills with fellow teachers.
