An 8 week unit of work for Foundation/Prep students that teaches them about music around the world. The unit includes lesson plans and a detailed powerpoint ready to teach! It looks at what a culture is, different traditional instruments, songs and dances from specific countries. Every lesson includes a learning intention and success criteria, clear explicit steps for learning tasks, links to the Victorian Curriculum, and an assessment rubric.
A 10 week unit for students in years 5 and 6 based around the concept of Rap. The unit looks at technical aspects of music composition including rhythm notation and arrangements based on different musical elements. It also includes activities on the history of rap and hip hop culture, and links to Indigenous Australian poetry. A Powerpoint resource with step by step instructions on how to make a Stop Motion animation on an iPad or Phone. My school was trying to encourage students to practice their times tables so we set up this challenge to increase engagement with the activity.
