I have experience teaching Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st grade.
I taught kindergarten my very first year. I loved it! I was quickly moved to a first grade position. I began my teaching career in Liberty County (Hinesville, GA) at Frank Long Elementary. After 2 years, I transferred to Bryan County (Richmond Hill, GA) to teach Pre-K in order to hopefully get a job closer to my home. After a year of teaching Pre-K in Richmond Hill, I transferred the the Pembroke Pre-K that was located about 5 minutes from my home (SCORE!). :) A few years of teaching Pre-K there, I got my dream job teaching first grade at Lanier Primary School. I LOVE it!

Swat the Sight Words
Swat the Sight Words! There are pages with bugs next to sight words (created from the Dolch Pre-Primer and Primer lists). You can use fly swatters to swat the sight words! :)
Option 1: My favorite way to do this in class is to project the pages onto the SmartBoard and have students come to the board to lightly swat the word that is called out using the fly swatter. It’s a fun whole group way to do sight word practice!
Option 2: You can print the pages and laminate (or slide into clear prote

Dolch Pre-Primer Sight Words Speedy Phrases Smart Board
I used the Dolch Primer sight word list to create a Smart Board presentation in which students are given phrases using those words to practice reading for fluency. This can be done whole group, in centers, or with a small group. Make sure when you exit the file after students have used it, that you DO NOT save the changes (This way it will go back to its original state). Students have to find the sight word speedy phrases in fun ways (erase to reveal, pull the arrow down, pull the shade down). H
