Twenty years of teaching experience promoting the enhancement of the brilliant minds of students to appreciate not only the knowledge of mathematics itself but the power of problem solving and rational thought that comes with that knowledge.
This document is a project which addresses all four transformations. Students are asked to pick one of three coordinate images to graph and transform by translation, reflection, rotation and dilation. They are then asked to apply their knowledge to four test prep questions. Rubric is included. Answer key is not. Please note, it is not advised to leave this as a project for a substitute to give out to students. Although most students will be able to complete this project once started, they st
This is a great study guide for angle relalationships! Students can organize the different types of angles. Included is vertical, corresponding, alternate interior, alternate exterior, supplementary and complementary angles. Covers common core standard 8.G.A.5
Students having trouble identifying the angle relationships created by parallel lines and a transversal, this activity is helpful. Students cut out their study cards. This activity is a great warm up 5 to 10 minutes at the beginning of class.
This presentation covers: prime factorization, divisibility rules, determining GCF between two or more numbers and applying GCF to real world problems. For the word problems, I pass out colored tiles to represent the items being regrouped. Students sort the tiles into equal corresponding groups. Its a hands-on way of visualizing the GCF concept. You can also use the word problems as task cards by printing the individual slides with the word problems, which is a great way to Jigsaw GCF. Thi
This activity is great for a journal piece. Students have to demonstrate their understanding of the degrees to a triangle and then apply their understanding to exterior angles of a triangle. Address the common core standards for 7g2 and 8g5.

This is a lesson in the form of a power point presentation. The lesson is a step by step guide on how to reflect an image and the characteristics preserved when reflecting.
This is a quick activity for identification of each of the types of transformations. Great at the beginning of a lesson. Students work in pairs quizzing each other on the types of transformations. They also may use these cards as a reference when solving problems. Covers common core standard 8.G.5
This is a quick activity where students apply their understanding of transformations. Students identify resulting coordinates from translations, reflections, and rotations, recognizing the relationship between the coordinates and the transformation. Addresses standard 8g3.
