This is an editable speaking (listening and writing too!) practice activity in which students ask their partners about their school schedules. They will ask and answer about their class schedule, teachers, amount of homework, and why or why they don't like each class. This is great for later in a school unit.

This is a longer (10 slides!) editable comprehensible story based off the video/song La Magia by Little Jesus that utilizes tons of school vocabulary, adjectives, and first-year vocabulary. Most slides have an accompanying comprehension question (multiple choice or open-ended). You could read the story together as a class or assign it via your learning platform.

This is a fully editable 2-page comprehensible story based on the song/video for Limón y Sal by Julieta Venegas. It follows the unlikely love story between Julieta and a wolf-man and offers some opportunities for SEL reflection. There is a built-in glossary and 5 comprehension questions. Panal de Miel: Preterito, or the Honeycomb Game: Preterite, is a great partner game for more advanced students to practice verbal translation* using the past tense. This is a Spanish alphabet speaking practice for partners that includes comprehensible beginner vocabulary supported by visuals. Print and cut in half. Each person in the partnership receives either half-sheet A or B. Partner A must spell their words for Partner B. Partner B writes what they hear. And vice versa. Students can compare at the end to check.

I specifically use this editable resource with the Spanish Scholastic Magazines (¿Qué tal?, Ahora, El Sol), but this could be adapted to other uses. It adds some accountabiltiy without interfering with the spirit of free reading. Print and cut into half-sheets. Students will record the title of the article, a one sentence summary, 1-2 new words they encountered, and something they learned from the articles.

This is a fully editable animal notes sheet with labels and without. There are 30 animals that are a litttle more advanced (not cognates). I used this in a Spanish 3 unit about the environment. You can use the unlabeled version to play Golpe. Students play against a partner by listening for the animal in Spanish and using their finger to indicate the animal. A more fun way to play is by having each student make a mark with a different colored marker. It gets rowdy!

This editable resource is a Spanish clothing/numbers info-gap speaking practice for partners. Partner A has information Partner B needs and vice versa. Print and cut in half. Each person in the partnership receives either half-sheet A or B. Partner A must ask Partner B how much each item costs and record what they hear. Great practice on numbers, clothing vocabulary, cuesta vs. cuestan, and noticing how adjectives agree in gender and number.

This resource is perfect for an interactive notebook. Students will color in the pencils to create a visual reference to the Spanish colors including gray, brown, black, multicolor, and additional descriptors like light, dark, striped, etc. I typically use this when I teach clothing.

Welcome to Profe Dyer: Resources and Activities! I have experience teaching Emergent Bilingual and World Language Students from Middle School through High School. Teaching style

I'm a toolbox teacher meaning I like to do a little bit of everything in my teaching practice. In my classroom you will see students participating in comprehensible input activities, speaking activities, games, and writing practice to practice specific functions/grammar and thematic vocabulary. My main goal is to produce interactive activities with scaffolds that allow any level of student to engage.
