Experience

25 years of teaching Spanish levels 1,2,3,4,4H and AP Language and Culture. Teaching style

I get students speaking! My classroom is immersive and English is only used to compare advanced grammatical structures. But it's about building relationships first. I make sure they know that I will prepare them so well before they speak that there will be no embarrassment for anybody. I present material that they can easily grasp and once they are comfortable speaking while implementing a new small concept, only then do we move on to the next one. It takes us a little while to get them to accept leaving their comfort zone, but once they do their language skills bloom.
