Professor Andi

Hi! I’m Professor Andi, an educator with 20+ years of experience teaching high school, early college, and adult learners in traditional and online environments. I’m passionate about helping teachers and students explore AI in ways that are ethical, sustainable, accessible, and deeply human-centered. As both an educator and advocate for neurodiverse learners, I create practical resources designed to reduce overwhelm, support different learning needs, and encourage curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking in the age of AI.

My teaching style is rooted in warmth, empathy, and meeting learners where they are. I believe students learn best when they feel supported, capable, and safe to ask questions without judgment. Whether I’m working with traditional students, adult learners, or neurodiverse learners, I focus on creating clear “on ramps” that help build confidence step by step instead of overwhelming students from the start. I value practical learning, encouragement, curiosity, and real-world connection. My goal is always to help learners feel empowered, supported, and successful while recognizing that every student brings different strengths, challenges, experiences, and ways of thinking into the learning process.

One of the professional accomplishments I’m most proud of is receiving the Continuous Learner Award, which reflects my belief that great teaching starts with staying curious, adaptable, and always willing to grow alongside students and technology. But honestly, my favorite “teacher moments” are usually the quiet, human ones like hearing from former students years later who still remember something from class, tell me I helped them believe in themselves, or share where life has taken them. Those moments never stop surprising me, and they remind me that teaching is always about helping people feel seen, capable, and encouraged at the right moment in their lives.

My educational background began at Baylor University, where I studied studio art and graphic design before transferring to East Texas A&M University. I initially pursued New Media, blending creativity and technology, but eventually found myself drawn toward English and education because I wanted to do work that felt meaningful, practical, and centered on helping people grow. I earned both my bachelor’s degree in English and my master’s degree in English from East Texas A&M University. I also became a certified teacher while working in rural school districts in eastern North Carolina, an experience that deeply shaped my understanding of equity, access, community, and the importance of meeting learners where they are. My background in both the arts and humanities continues to shape the way I teach, create resources, and think about technology, creativity, communication, and human connection.

Outside of the classroom, I’m passionate about creating approachable, ethical, and practical resources that help educators and students navigate learning in a rapidly changing world.
