I've had the joy of teaching elementary school for 9 years. In that time, I've taught pre-k, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grades. Independence Through Desk Mini-Checklist
To help students enter the room each morning in an independent fashion, I use this handy checklist that I put on their desks to remind them or their "morning jobs." 4 checklists fit on one sheet of paper, so they're truly small. But they do a big job in encouraging independence.

Students learn best when they're up and moving, creating, and building understanding through the experiential and constructivist models.

I have served as team leader for my grade level, as well as served as a mentor for first-year teachers. It's been my pleasure to work as the cooperating teacher for multiple student teachers.
