Google slides are written out to provide guidance and scaffolding for student's research. Sources are listed that provide the information students are researching which really helps support and guide their research. Students are given opportunities to read, collaborate, learn about other cultures, and show their creativity.

Zentangle is the process of meditative doodling and a great creative output exercise. Once students learn the art of zentangle, it can be a calming activity, early finisher activity, holiday themed or styled, and creates beautiful and unique student art. Here is a student art project that teaches the basics of zentangle and adds identity and classroom community when displayed.

Students have 8 different choices of projects that can be used as a summative assessment after reading, The Girl who Drank the Moon. Each project choice has a slide with expectations and directions. There is a grading and expectations slide at the end.

This is a summative project based learning choice board. With 9 different student choice options, students are able to create a project that showcases their reading comprehension, creativity, and interests. Projects include writing, filming, presenting, creating diorama and 3d models. Each project has a google slide page that describes the expectations. My 3rd and 4th GATE students love this project, and it is wonderful to provide them authentic opportunities to showcase their unique talents as

I use this expectations and directions sheet during our student-led literature circles novel study. Students have clear expectations of their team and individual jobs. Early finisher tasks are listed as well for those groups that finish ahead of their peers.
