Students will learn four rules for using dialogue effectively in narrative writing: 1. Move the story along 2. Make sense and fit appropriately 3. Emphasize key elements of plot 4. Be effective and not overly wordy Then, students will read four passages, each demonstrating the rules above. Students will then be required to explain why the narrative dialogue fits the rule.
