I am a Family and Consumer Science Education Teacher. I Teach Food Science, Family and Community Services, Career Portals, Exploring Careers, Fashion Design, Entrepreneurship, Human Growth and Development, Fashion Marketing and Interior Design
Students will style the 4 main characters in a movie of their choice. They will need to apply knowledge of fashion history, color psychology, color schemes, and applying costumes to characters personalities.
Students will achieve this by using a foam board and making a presentation about their chosen movie and costume design. They may sketch, add fabric swatches, location pictures, and actors images.
Students will use a $200 budget to go virtual shopping for essential items. They must stay within budget and come up with 10 days worth of outfits using the items that they were required to purchase.

Basic Operations, Business, Family Consumer Sciences
Have you ever stared in your closet and thought "I have nothing to wear?" If so this project is great for you and your students. For this project students are to come up with 30 days worth of outfits using only 10 items (5 tops and 5 bottoms). Students may accessorize the outfits to make them different. This makes students realize how to "Shop their Closets" and that they do not need an abundance of items to come up with great outfits.

Students answer these questions while watching the movie Forrest Gump. Students trace fashion trends and understand the importance of trend spotting, forecasting, fashion movement, fashion history and color through the symbolism used in this movie.

Students will understand the process of how marketers plan their research tactics and where they place certain items to get consumers to purchase certain products.

Students work in groups to design a business. I use this in my Entrepreneurship class for students to develop an idea and incorporate new business concepts into their business each week. All details of the business and criteria for the business plan submissions are included in this lesson.
I use the book Disciplined Entrepreneurship by Bill Aulet to frame this business project.

This is a project for Fashion Design, Interior Design, and Art classes that has students applying the elements and principles of design to clothing/interiors as well as to art pieces and placing it in a portfolio.
