Calculating tax percent shopping real world teaching prices

Created by
Purple Flamingo
This is a calculating tax activity lesson for students that need practice using real purchases and examples. Combine the lesson with sales flyers from departments stores or website links to store ads. We also have used Amazon and Ebay... anything will work, even the menu from McDonalds. This page is flexible and will help students master calculating percentages on numbers and tax on prices. There is space for them to do their calculations work so you can check it and look for errors.

About the store

Experience

I have 17 years of experience in the classroom... teaching Pre-K through 8th grades.

Teaching style

I am a very eclectic person... I change things up all the time to keep myself from getting bored. I know this filters down to my students. I have routines in my room, but we shake things up without warning so they never know what they'll miss if they are absent.

My own education history

I grew up in a very small, country town where I graduated high school. I was an Army wife for a while before I went to school to become a teacher. Best decision I ever made... the teacher part, not the wife part. ; )

Additional biographical information

I have 4 amazing kids that I call friends. They range from 16-25 years in age and are all completely different from one another. I love my pets, my friends, and my family. Nothing slows me down or discourages me. I live my life passionately.
