Have you looked for an "alfabeto" poster for your high school audience without success? Look no more! I have the perfect "alfabeto" for you! You can easily print on card stock, laminate, and "listo"! I think this is a great way to introduce cognates and new vocabulary. My Spanish firsties love to refer to it when we are learning the ABC in Spanish that first month, and it serves as a great point of reference when we incidentally use the words in our readings. #APSpanish #SpanishProject #Cultural

What Is a Parking Lot? A Parking Lot is a visual display in your classroom. A a form of formative assessment, your students are encouraged to “park” their questions and write them down on a Post-It® note. This can be used as an exit ticket. You will then use this data to plan or modify your next lesson. Simply print on cardstock, laminate, and LISTO! I would print using Adobe and selecting 4 papers to make it bigger. #APSpanish #SpanishProject #CulturalIdentity #WorldLanguages #HeritageLearner

Experience

I have over 20 years of experience teaching Spanish, including eight years teaching Spanish Language Arts in Puerto Rico and the past twelve years as a high school Spanish teacher in rural North Florida. My work is rooted in cultural relevance, language proficiency, and student engagement across diverse learning communities.

Teaching style

My teaching style is rooted in meaningful communication, cultural relevance, and the joy of learning through play. I believe language acquisition happens best when students are actively engaged, feel connected to the content, and are encouraged to express themselves. I design my lessons to highlight real-world use of Spanish, often incorporating games, creative projects, and personal storytelling. Culture isn’t a side topic—it’s at the heart of how I teach language, helping students understand themselves and others through diverse perspectives.

Additional biographical information

I’m a proud boricua de pura sepa, mom of three, wife to Sy, and teacher of many—living and teaching in sunny Florida. I love reading, traveling abroad, creating engaging content for my students, propagating and caring for plants, sponsoring my school’s junior class, and decorating for every season (and any reason!). Through my classroom resources, I aim to bring culture to life—highlighting traditions, customs, and celebrations from across the diverse and beautiful Hispanic world. I hope to share some of the cositas bonitas I create, so others can infuse their classrooms with culture, color, and connection.
