Botany: Compare Dates, Olives, and Grapes

There are so many verses that focus specifically on these plants and their fruits. So this worksheet begins with one of those verses, to show students that Allah SWT honored these fruits by mentioning them. Next is a simple Venn Diagram, allowing students to fill in what is the same and what is different about each of these three Qur'anic plants. This is a free download because this is one of my simpler creations :) However, I do have to acknowledge my graphic designer for the custom graphics t
Preview of Navigation via the Stars

Navigation via the Stars

The verse that says "by the stars, they find their way" is stating that this is already occuring... navigation by the stars. One way by which humans navigated the world is by 'inventing' and using the astrolabe. The short passage on this worksheet describes the astrolabe, and gives a history of its development. Furthermore, there is a live link from which students will learn even more about astrolabes.

Fruit Classification by Seed Type

In this Ecology/Botany related activity, students will be able to relate the arrangement of some fruits to these three categories: berry, drupe, and caryopsis. They should be able to conclude that grapes and pomegranates are "berries", corn is a "caryopsis" fruit, and the dates on palm trees are called "drupe". The format of the worksheet is: 1. A long verse from Al-An'aam, Chapter 6 (verse 66) that mentions water and how from that one compound, we get all types of fruits and vegetation. 2. Then

Water Cycle with a Quran Verse

Combining science and faith is the purpose of my TPT store. I will be offering more worksheets like this one, where various science concepts have been matched to a corresponding verse from the Quran (Al-Qur'an). The format is: * Title, then Verse (translation by Shakir). * Then a short reading passage, that I have written, that introduces or reviews the science concept. * Finally, an activity for the student. These worksheets are good for the warm-up portion of your classroom lesson, or for rev

Light and The Eye

After teaching how the eye works, this worksheet will help you summarize the process while integrating Islam and emaan into the topic. We start with a verse that says "Allah controls your sustenance and your sight" (paraphrasing here). Then we ask, what role does light play [in our sustenance and in sight]. We are hoping to engage students enough that they can perceive that light helps with photosynthesis and producing energy, whereas it also helps us to see.

Measure of a Man

This QAS worksheet is useful in Islamic Studies (God as the Intelligent Creator), Human Biology (skeletal system), Math (ratios) and Art class (drawing humans). The gist of the page is that there is a verse in the Quran where the proportionality of the human body is mentioned, as a sign of intelligent design. With that verse as the opening heaIder, students are then directed to measure various body parts. They can do so with yarn or with an actual measuring stick. Then they investigate the rela

Bees, Honey, and Swarming

We all know there's a chapter of the Quran entitled "Bees", thereby highlighting the importance of these insects to humankind. Without them, there is no food, and will be no life on earth. This worksheet uses a reading passage to inform students about one particular behavior of the bee. It details how a bee colony splits in half so that a new queen can have her own colony. This is known as "swarming". Being able to read passages and infer information such as a sequence is important not only in l

Movement of the Sun: Sun Dial

In one verse of the Qur'an, the Creator connects the idea of shadows with the movement of the sun. This gave me the perfect segue into the idea behind sundials. On this worksheet, we give guidance as to how to make a sundial, how to appreciate it and read it, and finally, we modify it for Islamic prayer times, AND include a video link regarding the importance of the sun in Islamic practices.

Atoms: Focus on Electrons and Magnetism

This worksheet goes with your lessons on atoms. The student activities include drawing the model of an atom that you endorse, and reading about how electrons are actually paired up. This will help when you go to explain suborbitals, and the denotation system 1s2, 2s2, 2p2, 3p2, etc.

Lamp Vs Light The Exactness of the Arabic Language

We adults are familiar with the exactness of the Arabic language, and now it's time to pass on that knowledge to the next generation. This worksheet does that through a science-related verse. Students first read a verse where the stars, the sun, and the moon are each described by a different light-related word. Then students are asked to think and write... why are three different terms being used? Why is one a lamp, and the other only "a light" (hint: reflection)? To familiarize yourself with m

Creation of Planets From Stars

God hints at the Big Bang when He says the heavens and earth "were joined together… then We parted them". It's important for students to know that this is in the Qur'an. It is also important to see how the physical world around us supports the 'big bang' as well. That's why students are asked to read a short passage, and then list at least two pieces of evidence that the heavens and earth were "joined together". This worksheet includes a bonus HW activity question.

Benefits of The Moon

Students read a verse about the moon, and brainstorm the benefits. They should mention tides, night time visibility (moonlight), phases which help us with timekeeping via the Islamic calendar, navigation, and maybe some will even say they are inspired to study space because of the moon!

Life Created from Water

The scientific method is highlighted as the "activity" for this worksheet. We begin with a verse about "every living thing" being made from water. Then we ask students to: Observe the relationship between life and waterBrainstorm ways to test the supposed relationshipDevise a test about the effect of water on plants [They can vary the type, amount, composition, or temperature of the water.] At the end of the worksheet are some ideas on how you can extend this into an actua

Dark Energy - Revised*

God often mentions how He upholds the heavens, which directs us to the question of how? Dark energy is one important hypothetical piece of the structure of the heavens. In order to discuss the idea of dark energy, I begin with a discussion of energy, and e=mc^2. Some schools and scholars do not want this equation to be taught, as they believe conservation of matter and energy excludes God. On my worksheet, I address this belief by saying "This equation DOES NOT MEAN that Allah did not create ene

Creation of Solar System, Part 2

This worksheet will support your lesson on the creation of solar systems. Hopefully you have discussed and shown students the accretion disk, i.e. balls of hot material orbiting a star. The link for the actual real-life image taken by telescope is given in the worksheet. Alternatively, this page can also introduce students to the creation of solar systems via the image of the accretion disk. The fun bonus question directs students to research how Stephen Hawking came up with the idea of the B

Nutrients Unique To The Sea

In this product, you will find the concept of "fatty acids as a nutrient" connected to the verse from the Qur'an that says: 14. And He it is Who has made the sea subservient that you may eat fresh flesh from it and bring forth from it ornaments which you wear, and you see the ships cleaving through it, and that you might seek of His bounty and that you may give thanks. The verse is followed by a short paragraph that I have written about omega-3 fatty acids, which is a concept in Human Biology (

You Are Now Being Served

So many times in the Qur'an, our Creator has mentioned that He has made creation "subservient" to man. This worksheet highlights two verses that have the word of interest, and also highlights the concept of serving. Students are led to think critically about the meaning of the word and how that applies to at least one natural phenomenon.

Six Days New Arabic Words

This fun worksheet investigates the Arabic word "Yaum" … from the verse about God creating the universe in six "yaum". Students learn that 'yaum' means period of time. They also practice writing it in Arabic, and they learn that the plural of yaum is ayyaam. The bonus question introduces another Arabic word "Istawa". And in this case, we have a short paragraph explaining why Allah SWT is considered to "istawa" in a manner different than humans do.

Teaching style

In the worksheets I have developed, you will find that I often summarize a scientific concept in grade-appropriate language. I focus on the essence of what they need to know. Then I will ask the student to use their critical thinking skills to answer open-ended questions. No mindless multiple choice here! Sometimes, there is an activity that requires them to take measurements or to draw. Other times, they may have to do a concept organizer, such as a Venn Diagram or a T-table. I appreciate your financial support. I pay my own graphic designer to make the diagrams and pictures, so all purchases help with the costs of production.
