About the store

About the store

Experience

Most of my teaching experience is in Special Education in Chicago Public Schools. I have taught in special education self-contained, resource, and inclusion classrooms. I was a Math Facilitator in a District Coordinator for social and emotional learning, and I want to share my resources to improve outcomes for challenging behavior.

Teaching style

My passion for small group and individualized instruction stems from my interest in working with the whole child. I feel that I am able to grow connections with my students by knowing their strengths, needs, and taking time to know what makes them who they are, and they blossom! I am interested in all aspects of learning, including academic, behavioral, and social emotional, I plan my instruction with knowledge of student's learning styles, strengths, and needs, and include multi-sensory education and differentiated opportunities to help students succeed.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Multiple grants from Donor's Choose for classroom equipment. Grant for struggling readers from Learning Ally. Recipient of the Rochelle Lee/Boundless Readers classroom libraries 2005-2007.

Raising three amazing boys, ages 14, 16, and 18. Married to my husband for 19 years. Pursuing an activity bus called Mood Mobiles to provide needed social and emotional support through my tax-exempt charitable nonprofit Action SEL, Inc. in the NW suburbs of Chicago.
