This is my 17th year. I have taught grades 6-12. I have been spending the bulk of my time the last 6 years writing curriculum to use for Geometry, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Common Core Math 1, and Common Core Math 2.
Here is a Pre-Assessment for your Math 2 course to see what areas your students have mastered. Works great as a companion to using my Basic Skills 1-9 to reteach the areas where students tend to be the weakest coming from Math 1. This could also be used in Algebra 2 as a pre-assessment for the same reasons. All the equations are typed in MathType by Design Science which incorporates the proper standard of mathematical spacing. If this happens to not be compatible with your word processor, I
Students have a hard time defining undefined terms. I like to use a cube that they can hold in their hand to show them in 3D what I am talking about. This activity uses spaghetti as lines and rays that get poked through the points on the faces (planes) of the cube. Also included are an activity/directions page. The activity page includes questions and places for drawings and notes.
Use this activity to help your students discover and practice Quadratics. It covers graphing, quadratic formula, factoring, zeroes, roots, solutions, x-intercepts, axis of symmetry, min/max, increasing/decreasing intervals, and the vertex. Everything is on one page, so students learn that there are multiple ways to find the zeroes of a quadratic. Their knowledge allows them to pick the best method. This pack includes 2 versions, 16 total problems, all problems worked out in the included key.
These activities are designed to assess the Algebra 1 concepts that your Math 2 students may be lacking. Fractions, Equations, Proportions, Formulas, & Literal Equations. They provide the opportunity for you to teach concepts while your students are practicing. I use them as warm-ups and teachable moments the first 2 weeks of each semester. All of the answer keys are worked out with tips and explanations when needed. I use MathType from Design Science to correctly format the equations. You
Student practice where they will find the parts of a quadratic equation. Axis of Symmetry, Vertex, Zeroes by factoring, Zeroes by calculator, Zeroes by Quadratic formula, Min / Max value, Interval - Increasing/Decreasing, Range, and Domain.
