Experience

I have worn many hats over my 10+ years in education. I've been a brick-and-mortar-school teacher and a virtual school teacher (not just during COVID). I've taught ELA and Reading in middle and high schools, and been a reading interventionist. I've taught struggling readers, ESOL students, honors, and gifted students. I have also been a curriculum and assessment developer, so I most recently expanded my passion for education by researching, designing, and teaching a homeschool preschool curriculum.

Teaching style

I am most passionate about reading and incorporating movement in learning (as you may have guessed from my store name). Most of my experience has been teaching or designing curriculum for students reading significantly below grade level. As a result, I incorporate a lot of games, graphic organizers, and movement activities while encouraging students to read in a non-threatening way. This process can be daunting so I fill my classroom with color, encouragement, and laughter. You'll find some of the decorations and goal-setting activities I use in my store, as well.
