Additional biographical information

Throughout my career, I have taught both general and special education, specializing in language arts and math for students in grades 6-12. My journey began as a member of Teach For America in Atlanta back in 2012, and since then, I have taught across seven grade levels. My background includes a Master’s degree in Reading and a Bachelor’s degree in 7-12 Secondary ELA Education. One of the most memorable experiences during my studies was the opportunity to student teach in South Africa, which broadened my perspective on teaching. I believe in offering students choices and providing structured support when teaching reading and writing. I also believe that novels are an incredibly powerful and engaging tool for fostering a lifelong love of learning. I have a great passion for Young Adult literature and love developing resources for teachers that incorporate culturally-responsive and captivating lessons into their classrooms. It brings me joy to contribute to the creation of an inclusive and inspiring learning environment.
