Where Efficiency Meets Literacy
Welcome! I am a Title I Reading Specialist and Orton-Gillingham trained tutor with a mission to bridge the gap between high-level Science of Reading (SOR) instruction and modern classroom efficiency.
Before entering the classroom, I spent 8 years in Operational Management. That experience redefined how I view educational resources. I realized that while our assessments are vital, pushing paper is an inefficient use of a teacher's most valuable resource: time.

This is an interactive Google Slides activity. Students need to count how many words are in each sentence and slide the number onto the yellow tag. This activity can be pushed out via Google Classroom to complete as an activity or quick assessment. I've included a FREE Jamboard download as well. Delete the 'free' icon linked to the Jamboard version if you don't want your students to navigate away from the Google Slides version.

Encoding CVC words Short i
This is a drag and drop Google Slides activity. It is ready to be pushed out through your Google Classroom. I use this first in a screencast environment by explaining how to isolate the beginning, middle, and ending sounds of the picture word. Then students must encode the short I word by dragging and dropping. Picture and letter tiles are still editable. Hint for iPad users: have students tap the letter tile once. A blue box will appear around the letter tile. Then drag it to its spot.

My own education history
Education and Certifications
My approach to literacy is built on a deep academic foundation and a commitment to specialized training. I hold a Master of Education along with my Reading Specialist Certification and a K-12 Principal Certification. My core teaching background includes a Bachelors in Elementary Education (K-6) and a Certification in Early Childhood Education.
To further support my most struggling readers, I am Orton-Gillingham trained. This training informs every resource I create for my Title I classroom and my private dyslexia tutoring practice.
