Hi! I am a licensed literacy specialist with over 20 years of teaching experience. My enthusiasm for literacy goes beyond the classroom. I have a degree in psychology as well as a master’s degree in educational literacy. My passion is personal as my own daughter, now a student in college, struggled with literacy. Blending lines are a great way to build fluency at the word level. This blending line strategy was created by Wiley Blevins, and explained in his book, A Fresh Look At Phonics. This approach is most useful when high-utility words are used. These are words that students will read and use in their own spelling.
