This packet contains 5 different graphic organizers for tightly-structured paragraphs analyzing aspects of Sandra Cisneros' House on Mango Street, along with sample completed graphic organizers, and an exemplar paragraph. It also contains instructions, rubric, and a self-assessment for a creative essay based on the "My Name" chapter. Bonus: story chart, to help students track "innocence/experience" moments and similes/metaphors story by story.

Experience
As a 30-year veteran English teacher, I have taught in both public and private schools, at both the secondary and university level. I am especially interested in making high-quality reading instruction and materials available to ALL students.
Teaching style
I work to create content-area readings to help students see that good reading strategies will help them in all classes, not just ELA. My goal is to help students become more confident, self-directed learners with the ability to pursue their own passions through access to texts of all kinds.
