Experience

Hi, I’m Rebecca, a classroom teacher, curriculum planner, and the creator of ReadyWrite. I believe writing is one of the most powerful tools for learning, especially when included in all core classes. ReadyWrite is built on proven, research-based strategies that support comprehension through purposeful writing. Every resource is designed with real classrooms in mind and reflects what I’ve seen work with students across a range of abilities.

Teaching style

My teaching style is structured, supportive, and centered around clarity. I believe in giving students the tools they need to think deeply and express their ideas confidently, without overwhelming them. Whether I’m teaching ELAR or integrating writing into social studies and science topics, I focus on strategies that make learning visible, manageable, and meaningful. I design instruction that balances scaffolding with independence. I’m passionate about helping students grow as writers through content, not just write about it. In every classroom, I strive to create a calm, purposeful space where expectations are high, directions are clear, and students feel capable.

Awards & shining teacher moments

My own education history

I hold a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Florida State University and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Wester Governors University. I’ve taught in Florida, North Carolina, Oregon, and Texas. Currently, I’m certified in Texas for K-8 core subjects, ESL, Special Education, and the Science of Teaching Reading. I’ve taught in both special and general education.

Additional biographical information

Before becoming a teacher, I served as a Navy journalist and public affairs specialist, where I learned the power of clear, purposeful communication. That experience shaped my approach to teaching writing as a tool for learning across all subjects.
