Experience

I am a 7th Grade Life Skills teacher and an 8th Grade Health Teacher. I have been teaching over ten years now! I love to teach practical skills and knowledge in a fun and engaging way. This helps all students from the many different walks of life actually participate and learn during each lesson. I give the kids respect through superb classroom management. Then they in turn respect me. If the lesson is not fun then it is not from me!

Teaching style

I believe learning should never be boring—and in my classroom, it isn’t! I bring energy, creativity, and positivity into every lesson, making sure students are not just present, but fully engaged. Whether we’re tackling Life Skills, exploring Health Education, or building habits for Success, I use interactive activities, real-life scenarios, and plenty of movement and discussion to keep everyone involved. My goal is to create a space where students feel excited to learn, confident to participate, and motivated to grow—because when learning is fun, it sticks for life!

Awards & shining teacher moments

I have now been teaching for over 10 years and I have loved it! I have been the teacher of the month several times and nominated a few times for teacher of the year. I am state board health certified in the state of utah. And I continue my education by participating in many conferences and I also help out my schools HOPE squad.

My own education history

I started my educational background in Food Science at the University of Idaho, in Moscow Idaho. From there I attended college at Utah Valley University. There I earned my secondary Health Education Teaching License, with a minor in Public Health. I student taught at Taylorsville high school and eventually ended up where I am now. I love teaching and it is a big passion of mine to help students learn and grow.

Additional biographical information

I am the fifth of six boys in my family. My parents had us all in 6.5 years, so we are close in age. I grew up not knowing I had ADHD until college so I know how to find and help all students with similar challenges. I believe we can all do hard things and that is what I did growing up.
