Each page has a vocabulary word from Esperanza Rising accompanied with a picture, definition, and example sentence with the word. Can be used to review vocabulary, introduce new words, and can be paired with vocabulary menus.

This rubric can be used to assess many different projects. This rubric is general and allows for flexible use. With multiple categories, the teacher is able to assess a range of parts of a project from the student's use of class time to the graphics used. The language is clear so that students will understand their strengths and stretches.

This page walks the students through some thinking when they have missed their homework. it guides them to think about what they can change in their routine so that they don't forget their homework again.

This is a full year of writing lessons. You can use them individually for lessons, or sequentially throughout the year for your writing program. It begins with complete sentences and teaches and practices opinion, informative, narrative and letter writing. Also includes sentence types, figurative language, editing, and writing descriptively.

Used as final project menu, but can be used throughout the reading of a class novel study, book study groups, or individual book reports. 12 different activities to allow for student choice and student interest.

This menu can be used at any time and can be focused on a specific topic, or broad and thinking about a chosen icon in any way the student would like. There is one activity per Depth and Complexity icon. Being a menu, it promotes choice for the students while thinking critically.

This outline gives students transition phrases to create 4 body paragraphs for an opinion essay. Can be used for 5th grade with the fourth paragraph being an extension, or 6th and it covers the CCSS for opinion writing.

Used for intervention, but can be used whole class, this worksheet provides a list of words that a student can sort by either drawing a line, cutting the words, or writing them. The student is sorting for the -ake, -ame, and -ate word ending.

This is a beginning of the year project for students. This can be done in the classroom or for homework during the first week. Kids are to trace their hand and arm and then decorate it with facts about them. Once the teacher gets them all turned you can create a mural to be up throughout the year.

This is a rubric that can be used to grade a book report. It is very specific and can help support grading and looking for exact elements found in writing.

This is for students to fill out as they go through math rotations. This helps with self-reflection of effort and achievement, as well as behavior management. Students assess themselves on their effort and achievement after each rotation. They can track their progress throughout the week and then use their reflection to make goals for the following weeks. This can also be something that is used for assessment of classroom behavior.
