Students are given 8 profiles of potential settlers to join Austin's Old 300. They must accept or deny each person and justify the reason for each. Two of the profiles are REAL (Jane Long and Alexander Hodge) This is critical thinking, using application and simulation.

A quick and easy way to get kids talking to adults about the events of 9/11. So many of our kids don't have a memory, or were even born in 2001...I use it as extra credit, feel free to modify.
A note page to organize the important features of the natural regions of Texas. Print one for each region then complete. The empty box can contain an illustration or map to highlight the region.
This is used the first unit of the year in my class as an easy way to teach organization and basic composition. The thesis is in the first box, built for the students. This process is usually done as a group, then transferred onto notebook paper as a final draft.
