About the store

Experience

I am the owner of Regal Tutors. I began tutoring while I was in college over a decade ago. Since then, I have earned my teaching credential and spent three years as a traditional elementary school classroom teacher. During my time as a classroom teacher, I continued working as a private tutor. Now I have my own private tutoring business.

Teaching style

For Spanish: Build a firm foundation. The Common Core Revolution has pushed the higher levels of bloom's taxonomy. However, in order to be successful at those more advanced levels, students need to master the basics. Students need to memorize the vocabulary which they can do using the online Quizlet flashcards and with the vocabulary spelling sheets I have created. (BTW Students who have a vocabulary test the week before the etapa test learn the material better because it forces them to start studying sooner.) The next step is for students to understand and apply grammar rules. The ¡En español! curriculum rushes through this, and most students need extra practice. So I have also created worksheets with really simple grammar assignments.

Awards & shining teacher moments

My classes have earned the most improved test scores for their grade level at their school and the highest test scores for their grade level in the district.

My own education history

I have both a teaching credential and a master's degree.
