Teaching style

My teaching style can best be described as organized chaos—I thrive in a space that is lively, flexible, and responsive to the needs of my students, while still being rooted in structure and consistency. I prioritize creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment where students feel comfortable to be themselves and take risks. Building strong, trusting relationships is at the heart of my classroom, and laughter is a daily part of our routine. You’ll never find the overhead lights on; instead, my classroom glows with the warmth of lamps and string lights, offering a calming atmosphere. I use flexible seating to support student comfort and focus, and I’m always on the hunt for practical, creative organizational systems that actually work in the special education world. And of course, you’ll never catch me without my Stanley full of water and a big cup of iced coffee in hand! Oh, and I despise numbers but love to see the data and progress of my students :)

My own education history

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts with a focus in Social Work and a minor in Psychology, which laid a strong foundation for understanding human behavior and the importance of empathy and connection in education. I went on to earn my Master of Arts in Teaching with a specialization in K–12 Special Education, focusing on Learning Disabilities (LD) and Behavior Disorders (BD). As I enter my fourth year of teaching, I bring both academic knowledge and hands-on experience to my classroom, continuously growing in my practice and remaining committed to supporting the unique needs of every student I serve.
