My students struggled with identifying the different examples of hyperbole, anecdotes, and stereotypes in argumentative texts. So, I created this activity where students must read an example and identify it as either a hyperbole, an anecdote, or a stereotype. This activity could be done as a warm-up, as independent practice, or you could cut it into cards and create a card sort where students identify each claim, hyperbole, anecdote, or stereotype.

In this resource, you will find a reference sheet that informs students what subordinating conjunctions are and how to use them to create complex sentences, followed by examples of common subordinating conjunctions and how they are used. Then, students will read different sentences about industrialization and will determine if the proper subordinating conjunction is being used in the sentence, changing it if it is wrong.
