The number of parents attending open house over the years seems to decline. At our school, we have parents walk through the student’s schedule and spend a few minutes with each teacher. I decided that instead of giving a talk for each group, I would provide an engaging way for parents to explore and give myself the opportunity to have meaningful conversations with parents. Reading Log accountability has always been a challenge. As teachers, we want to get our students reading every day. I often struggle with an effective way to hold students accountable and make it easy and efficient. As a result, I designed a bookmark that students could easily keep in their book as they read each day. Students can track their time and pages read and parents sign for accountability. Each week I would collect bookmarks on Monday and use a date stamp to verify when it was turned in
