About the store
I like helping students learn by finding out where they are. Scaffolding and differentiated instruction are my lenses to help students be successful and in creating teacher resources. You will find my lessons follow a pattern: students will identify, infer, and then apply. With high interest topics, I like to make sure the reading level is appropriate and often lower in order to include those that may struggle with reading or are learning English as a Second Language. I call these HI-LO activities! Enjoy!

HI-LO Reading: An INTRO to Carpentry!

HI-LO Reading Passages & Exercises is designed for Grade 7 - 12 students who are interested in learning about real life and practical skills. They may struggle with reading but really shine when they are interested in a topic. The goal is to improve their reading skills while becoming engaged with content that they enjoy. This resource is the beginning of hopefully much more to come in the future.

Teaching style

My teaching style is to think of my most needy student in my class and design lessons for them in mind. I believe they can handle complex and exciting topics but it's all in the way information is presented to them. I create lessons that have some reading, a picture and a space to doodle, key vocabulary, supporting questions, and inquiry questions for deeper learning. Most, if not all, my lessons can be done in pairs or small groups of diverse learners. Every student has a strength!!
