About the store
I’m a passionate educator with a strong foundation in Visual Arts, Marketing, and Business, supported by my Associate in Visual Arts, Bachelor’s in Marketing, and Master’s in Business Administration. Alongside teaching, I work as a freelance graphic designer and photographer, helping clients bring their creative ideas to life. Before entering education, I served as a Graphic Design/Marketing Director, where I led creative strategy and branding initiatives. In the classroom, I teach Theatre, Fashion Design I & II, Digital Media, Principles of A/V, Graphics 1 & 2, Practicum of Graphic Design, and Photography. My students consistently earn 90–100% Adobe certification each year, and I take pride in preparing them with both creative and industry-ready skills. Beyond coursework, I support students in competing in SkillsUSA—often advancing to the state level—and help manage our student-led school store and print shop. As the Student Council Advisor and UIL Film Advisor, my focus is on building creativity, leadership, and confidence, empowering students to pursue their passions—whether in design, theatre, fashion, photography, or any creative field they’re excited about.

Teaching style

I believe in creating a classroom where students feel both challenged and supported—whether they’re practicing scene work in Theatre, designing garments in Fashion Design, or developing digital and visual media projects. My teaching style centers on hands‑on learning, giving students the chance to actively engage with the material and build real-world skills. I encourage creativity and innovation, allowing them to explore different avenues of design, performance, photography, and media production. Above all, I strive to create an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and pushing their boundaries. Project-based learning is at the heart of my instruction because it allows students to see the immediate, practical application of what they’re learning. Whether they’re creating costumes, preparing a scene for performance, building a brand identity, developing a portfolio, or training for SkillsUSA, I guide them through the process with step‑by‑step instruction and meaningful feedback. Collaboration is also a major focus of my classes—creative fields thrive on teamwork—so I work to help students build communication skills, confidence, and adaptability. At the core of my teaching philosophy is the belief that every student has the potential to succeed. My role is to help them identify their strengths, discover their passions, and gain the tools they need to turn those interests into tangible, career‑ready skills across theatre, fashion, design, and media.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I’m incredibly proud of my students’ achievements, especially when they compete at the SkillsUSA state level. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of mentoring students in a wide range of competitions—including A/V Quiz Bowl, Graphic Sublimation, Screen Printing, Advertising Design, Graphic Communications, and Customer Service. My students consistently demonstrate creativity, discipline, and strong technical skill, earning recognition year after year. This year, I’m especially excited to see students step into Desktop Publishing for the first time—a new area for us that highlights their growing confidence in design and digital media. Whether they come from my Theatre program, Fashion Design classes, or my A/V and Visual Communications courses, I love watching them apply what they’ve learned in class to real competitive environments. These moments are incredibly rewarding. They remind me just how powerful hands-on learning, creative problem‑solving, and healthy competition can be in helping students grow—not just as artists and designers, but as leaders and professionals.

My own education history

My educational journey has been deeply rooted in both the arts and business. I hold an Associate in Visual Arts, a Bachelor’s in Marketing, and a Master’s in Business Administration—an academic combination that gives me a unique perspective on both the creative and strategic sides of education. This blend allows me to teach my students not only how to create art, performances, and designs, but also how to think critically, communicate professionally, and understand the industries connected to their work. This balanced background directly shapes how I approach teaching across Theatre, Fashion Design, A/V, and Visual Communications. I’m able to merge artistic expression with practical, real‑world skills, helping students understand everything from character development and garment construction to brand strategy and digital design. Before becoming a teacher, I worked as a Graphic Design/Marketing Director, which gave me hands‑on industry experience that I now bring into the classroom. Whether my students are building a portfolio, preparing for a show, designing a collection, or competing in SkillsUSA, I’m able to connect their projects to real professional expectations—helping them see how their classroom work translates into future careers.

Additional biographical information

Outside of my professional life, I’m passionate about creativity and helping others find their voice—whether through design, photography, or performance. When I’m not teaching, you’ll often find me working on freelance projects, where I get to collaborate with clients and take on new creative challenges. I also enjoy spending time with my family and staying active in my school community through my work as a Student Council Advisor and UIL Film Advisor. I strongly believe in lifelong learning and strive to model that for my students. I’m always evolving my own skills—exploring new techniques in photography, staying current with trends in graphic design, expanding my knowledge in theatre production, and continually learning more about garment construction and fashion foundations. My goal is not only to teach students the technical skills needed for success, but also to inspire them to be innovative, adaptable creators who feel empowered to thrive in any career path they choose.
