Scavenger hunts are a great way to get your students up and moving while working on their Math skills! This scavenger hunt contains a mix of problems that require students to either convert a percent to a decimal or a decimal to a percent. It works great as practice or as a way to assess how well students can convert between decimals and percents since it is so easy to check student's work during the activity. To increase the rigor, I made a point to use many similar decimals (ie, 45, 4.5, 0

About the store

Experience

I taught Algebra/Geometry in High school for 4 years. I also have been teaching pre-AP Algebra and 8th grade Math in middle school for the last 6 years.

Teaching style

Technology heavy teaching style. I made my own virtual whiteboard with a Wii remote and I use powerpoint presentations and things like the eInstruction remotes all the time.

Awards & shining teacher moments

My students think I'm awesome, does that count? hehe And the old saying about always a bridesmaid and never a bride applies to me and the teacher of the year voting at my school. They like me enough to keep putting me on the ballot, but I never seem to win. Personally, I think it's because I'm in a portable building and they think less of me because of that. :)

My own education history

BS in Math from the University of Texas

Additional biographical information

I am a native Houstonian who is back home teaching math to at-risk kids. This is definitely NOT what I saw myself doing when I was a student, but I love every minute of it. I am also a father to an awesome, rambunctious 3 year old boy.
