• Professional Musician & Music Editor (Los Angeles, CA): For 20 years, I built a successful career in the music industry as a composer, arranger, pianist, conductor, music editor, and technical consultant for motion pictures, concerts, and television. I received an Emmy nomination in 1997 for music editing on HBO's The Cherokee Kid and am a published arranger with the Rogers & Hammerstein Organization. I had the privilege of collaborating with renowned artists such as Stanley Clarke, Lalo Schifrin, Henry Mancini, Nelson Riddle, Maya Angelou, and more. • Music Educator (Marion County, FL): In 1999, I transitioned to teaching after moving to Ocala to raise my family. For 14 years, I taught Piano/Keyboard and Rock Band/Studio Music Ensemble at West Port High School, where I founded and directed The West Port ROCK PACK music program. Throughout my teaching career, I earned numerous state, district, and national recognitions for my contributions to music education.

• My teaching style is rooted in real-world experience, combining my years in the professional music industry with a hands-on approach to learning. I aimed to not only teach students musical skills but to provide them with a deeper understanding of the music business and industry. • My goal is to make advanced music concepts easy to understand by creating concise study guides for quick reference. • Through The West Port ROCK PACK, I blended music performance with studio work, allowing students to explore both the creative and technical sides of music creation. • I encouraged creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking, which helped my students develop as musicians and as people.

Awards & shining teacher moments

• Marion County District Teacher of the Year (2003): I was honored to receive this award, which recognized my dedication to my students and the community. • Quarter-Finalist for the Grammy Music Educator Award (2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2021, 2022): I was privileged to be selected multiple times for this prestigious recognition of my work in music education. • Marion Cultural Alliance’s Arts Educator of the Year (2020): It was an honor to receive this award, acknowledging my impact on the arts community in Marion County. • Exemplary Program Award (2020-2021): The West Port ROCK PACK was selected by the Florida Music Educators Association for its excellence in music education.

My own education history

I hold a Bachelor of Music Degree in Composition from California State University, Northridge. Additionally, I have earned three certificates from The Grove School of Music in Los Angeles, California, in the following areas: Composing and Arranging, Piano Performance, and Film Scoring. These educational experiences, combined with my extensive professional career, have been instrumental in shaping my approach to music and teaching.
