About the store
I have been in education since 2001. I began as an in class tutor through a CSUSB program. I later began substitute teaching in January 2003. After completing my credential in 2024 I began my first teaching position at a local junior high and then transferred to high school the following year. In 2008 I took time off to become a mother and complete my MA. Then in 2011 I began teaching at several of the local junior colleges bot in person and online. I returned fulltime to the high school classroom in 2016 teaching primarily 11th grade and 12th grade Shakespeare. Since then I have taught all four grade levels and even did two and a half years as our sites activities director (most of which time was through the COVID years). I now teach all twelfth grade, including AP Literature.

Romantic or Victorian Text Character in A Bag

Created by

This form can be used for novels ranging from the Romantic, Victorian, and Regency eras, as well as the American Enlightenment (eg Edith Wharton). This idea does not originate from me but is something I heard of somewhere online or at a conference. I try to get a bag that matches thematically as well.

Experience

Teaching style

I am a Type C for Chaos person. I love to teach different topics and texts every year. I love trying new things in new ways. I tend to focus on tasks that encourage engagement and student involvement, as well as creativity. I love nothing better that a great discussion of a text, current event, or, well, any topic really. Thus, my classroom is set up in such a way that this sorts of discussions flourish.

My own education history

I have a BA in Literature from California State University San Bernardino, my California Teaching Credential from University of Redlands, and an MA in Literature with concentrations in Ethnic American Literature & British Renaissance Literature from California Polytechnic University Pomona.
