I have been a special education science teacher for the last 12 years. During that time, I taught biology, integrated science, physics, anatomy, business math, and learning strategies.
3 Stations to get students up and moving and reviewing Newton's First and Second Laws of Motion. Students will review important vocabulary words, practice finding the net force on an object, review the math associated with newton's second law, calculate average acceleration, and answer an open response questions from the MCAS exam.
Students cut an paste words over the correct definitions to create a "flip chart" style vocabulary review. Vocabulary: Experiment, Mass, System, Scientific Method, Independent Variable, Dependent Variable, Hypothesis, Control Variable, Experimental Variable, Distance, Metric System, Speed, Constant Speed, Directly Proportional, Inversely Proportional, and Relate.
Jeopardy Style Review Game on the human body tissues. This is used at the end of the Body Tissues unit in High School Anatomy & Physiology. The Jeopardy board and all slides are interactive so you can click and be brought directly to the question, the answer, or back to the board.
Students identify and label long, short, flat, and irregular bones by dragging and dropping labels and adding leader lines. Students will also distinguish between the axial and appendicular skeletons.
Review the body systems and their functions with this drag & drop activity. Information and images from Google Images and Essentials of Human Anatomy & Physiology 11th Edition by Elaine N. Marieb
Quiz assessing student knowledge of the divisions of the skeletal system, the functions of the skeletal system, the classification of bones by shape, and the parts of a long bone.
This is the student version of "The Skeletal System - Presentation Google Slides". This version has blanks for the students to fill in as they follow along with your lecture. This is intended to be used in conjunction with "The Skeletal System - Presentation Google Slides" also in my TpT store.
Google slides notes for the skeletal system. This is used as a lecture tool in anatomy. It is used in conjunction with "The Skeletal System - Student Slides". The student slides have spots where students will "fill-in the blank" based off of your lecture slides.
Lecture notes (google slides) and a student version of the slides. The student version is "fill-in the blank' style and meant to be used during a lecture/lesson in conjunction with "The Skeletal System - Presentation Google Slides". This is used for the entire skeletal system unit but broken into small chunks for lecture.
Graphic Organizer (Categorizing Brainframe) on the type of connective tissue in the human body. Used as a review during the body tissues chapter in high school anatomy.
Students will match various units of measurements and formulas with the correct quantities by dragging various units and formulas and dropping them in the right box. In addition, they will apply this knowledge to solving physics words problems. Topics Reviewed: speed, distance, time, force, mass, and acceleration
Introductory activity to preview some basis physics words at the beginning of the year. Vocabulary: Directly proportional, inversely proportional, increase, decrease, interaction, system, sum, product, distinguish, relate/relationship, compare, and universal. *I use this activity to help students better understand what questions as asking them to do in addition to practicing important vocabulary words.
Introductory activity for the skeletal system which can also be used as a post-assessment. Students start the unit by trying to name as many bones as possible (bonus points for anatomically correct names). As a class, we fill in the entire diagram. I often revisit this assignment at the end of the unit and use it as a post-assessment.
Use this table to help students learn and review the anatomical directional terms used in high school Anatomy & Physiology.
