About the store
Hi! I’m Alexis Chittum—artist, art teacher, and someone who’s probably sipping a latte, binging a good show, or planning their next trip. I love working with gouache, diving into color theory, and helping students of all ages discover that they are artists. I currently teach elementary art and have experience with every grade level from kindergarten through high school. Along the way, I’ve also taught general education, co-taught in inclusive settings, and worked with learners of all abilities. I bring that wide range of experience into everything I create—making resources that are flexible, creative, and made to work in real classrooms.

Experience

I bring that wide range of experience into everything I create—making resources that are flexible, creative, and made to work in real classrooms.

Teaching style

My approach blends structure with creative freedom. I use a balanced DBAE framework while offering plenty of choice-based opportunities for students to explore materials and express themselves. I believe every student deserves access to a meaningful, joyful art education that sparks confidence and creativity. My classroom is all about giving kids the tools—and the encouragement—to grow.

My own education history

I earned my degree in Art Teacher Education from Saint Vincent College, along with my PK–12 certification. During my undergrad years, I had the chance to teach in a variety of classroom settings, which helped shape my hands-on, student-focused approach. I’m currently working toward my Master of Arts in Art Education through the Art of Education University, always looking to grow as both an educator and an artist.

Additional biographical information

Outside the classroom, you’ll usually find me painting, reading, exploring new coffee shops, working out, spending time with friends and family, or sneaking one more plant into my collection. I believe that living a full life outside of teaching helps me show up better in the classroom—and keeps my creative energy flowing.
