Experience

I love finding new ways to engage and motivate ALL students to learn and love music, and I've been fortunate to teach elementary general music since 2010 at my dream job in my hometown school! I have found that a strong sense of community is key to building a successful music program, and the resources I create reflect my passion for making music class welcoming and fun!

Teaching style

I look for the fun in all things! Music education, though not easy, can and should be fun! Every student has a "hook," and I strive to find what it is that interests and inspires students so that they are able to find connections and make music meaningfully. For this reason, I LOVE student-led learning, centers, themes, and games! I rely heavily on my Kodaly training for my scope and sequence, and find that the philosophy suits me well!

My own education history

I graduated from Minnesota State University Moorhead with my B.A. in instrumental music education in 2010. I later pursued my Masters from the same university, earning my M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction with a Kodaly emphasis.
