Make 10! Adding to 10 with dice

Created by
Rope Swing
Learners look at dice and dominoes, then create their own dot patterns. Learners create new dot patterns for numbers 4-7. After students are familiar creating and using dot patterns to recognize numbers 1-9, learners will then fill in domino templates so that each side of the domino adds up to a specific sum. *Having dice or dominoes on hand would be fun, but certainly not necessary.

Teaching style

I strive to build a collaborative classroom culture where learners work on teams to solve problems and build knowledge by designing creative displays of learning. My classroom teaching style involves cooperative learning in team-based settings with hands-on activities such as problem and puzzle solving, inquiry labs, case studies, gallery walks, and STEM activities such as mouse trap race car competitions, paddle boat competitions, bridge building competitions. I strive to have 100% student engagement though daily formative assessments with clickers, exit tickets, strategic reading and vocabulary activities, and partner interviews.
