Fun and rigorous way for upper elementary students to prove and showcase what they have learned at the end of a weather unit. Students will video themselves completing a weather forecast that they have created. In order to complete the project, students will use this packet that guides them through planning their forecast. The guide includes a form for students to write their notes for the forecasts for 5 cities across the United States including the capital city of their home state. There

Incorporate writing into your light and sound science unit with this activity after teaching your unit. There are five choices for students to choose from. This is a great alternative way to assess your students' understanding of light and sound. They will explain through their writing: how sound is produced and how it travels, what pitch is and what causes it to vary, what transparent, translucent, and opaque objects are, and how light is reflected and refracted.
