Students will be stranded on an island and use a map and trig to determine how to get to safety. Bearings are listed as standard form for angles but can easily be edited to use cardinal directional form. Can be done as a class to quickly review topics or assigned. Two versions with different graphs and measurements are included. This project has students choose and fold a piece of origami. They will use the outline of the figure to create a polygon, triangulate the polygon, and use the Law of Sines and Cosines to find missing parts of triangles. Once triangles have been solved, students will find the area of each triangle (I teach Heron's area formula and Area=0.5(a)(b)sin(C) to streamline the process) to calculate the total area of their figure.
