Origami Project
This project has students choose and fold a piece of origami. They will use the outline of the figure to create a polygon, triangulate the polygon, and use the Law of Sines and Cosines to find missing parts of triangles. Once triangles have been solved, students will find the area of each triangle (I teach Heron's area formula and Area=0.5(a)(b)sin(C) to streamline the process) to calculate the total area of their figure. Teaching should not require us to reinvent the wheel! My projects are designed to be used right away but also allow you to cater to your own classroom. I believe high quality, low cost project based assessments are the way to maintain student engagement.
